Poetry for my Wife

My Wife
You're the bone of my bones
Who I love for my wife.
The flesh of my flesh
And my partner in life.

For me to have and to hold
For better or for worse.
To love and to cherish
Though we might fight and curse.

Be I richer or poorer,
'Till death makes us part,
I will give you great portions
Of my soul and my heart.

Heaven won't be heaven
If I don 't see you there,
May the first to go
Be me, is my prayer.

To My Wonderful Wife
How do I begin to tell you how lucky I am
to have you in my life?
I'll start by saying what a gift you gave me
the day you became my wife.

You're my best friend in the good times
and my rock in times of sorrow.
You're the reason for sweet yesterdays
and my promise for tomorrow.

I never thought I could feel this loved
until you became my wife.
You made this year and every year
the best one of my life.

A Love Poem for My Wife
I see you as a beautiful women of Kindness and love,
With a big heart for others that your always thinking of.

I love how you smile it makes your eyes shine and twinkle,
Or your laugh when its funny if its not just a wrinkle.

I love your way of hugging and holding me close,
Or staring at my face and smiling, loving me most.

You mean more to me than anything in life ,
I'm happy the Lord did make you my wife.

I've looked for your love in all the wrong place,
But I find it in your eyes when I look at your face.

I love to remember our days in a Mexican paradise,
I never took you for granted and you always looked nice.

My heart sings songs of happiness when I'm in your heart,
And cries out for your love when we are apart.

I just need you to know that I always am here,
I will never leave your heart nor create any fear.

You gave me your heart and I gave you mine,
I hope that you love me till the end of time.

I want to die in your arms in a cabin by the woods
If I had one wish, I wish that I could.

Love Poems:

Wind & Window Flower

Robert Frost

Lovers, forget your love,

And list to the love of these,

She a window flower,

And he a winter breeze.

When the frosty window veil

Was melted down at noon,

And the caged yellow bird

Hung over her in tune,

He marked her though the pane,

He could not help but mark,

And only passed her by

To come again at dark.

He was a winter wind,

Concerned with ice and snow,

Dead weeds and unmated birds,

And little of love could know.

But he signed upon the sill,

He gave the sash a shake,

As witness all within

Who lay that night awake.

Perchange he half prevailed

To win her for the flight

From the firelight looking-glass

And warm stove-window light.

But the flower leaned aside

And thought of naught to say,

And morning found the breeze

A hundred miles away.

It is dangerous to let the public behind the scenes. They are easily disillusioned and then they are angry with you, for it was the illusion they loved.

-- W. Somerset Maugham

Rhymes, meters, stanza forms, etc., are like servants. If the master is fair enough to win their affection and firm enough to command their respect, the result is an orderly happy household. If he is too tyrannical, they give notice; if he lacks authority, they become slovenly, impertinent, drunk and dishonest.

-- W. H. Auden

We can not do great things. We can only do little things with great love.

For in the end, we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught.

Real success is finding your lifework in the worth that you love.

-- David McCullough

A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.

-- Albert Einstein

Love is the child of illusion and the parent of disillusion.

He who is in love is wise and is becoming wiser, sees newly every time he looks at the object beloved, drawing from it with his eyes and his mind those virtues which it possesses.

-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

When all is said and done, friendship is the only trustworthy fabric of the affections. So-called love is a delirious inhuman state of mind: when hot it substitutes indulgence for fair play; when cold it is cruel, but friendship is warmth in cold, firm ground in a bog.

Age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age.

Love, love, love -- all the wretched cant of it, masking egotism, lust, masochism, fantasy under a mythology of sentimental postures, a welter of self-induced miseries and joys, blinding and masking the essential personalities in the frozen gestures of courtship, in the kissing and the dating and the desire, the compliments and the quarrels which vivify its barrenness.

Love is a force more formidable than any other. It is invisible - it cannot be seen or measured - yet it is powerful enough to transform you in a moment, and offer you more than any material possession ever could.

No birth certificate is issued when friendship is born. There is nothing tangible. There is just a feeling that your life is different and that your capacity to love and care has miraculously been enlarged with out any effort on your part. It's like having a tiny apartment and somebody moves in with you. But instead of becoming cramped and crowded, the space expands, and you discover rooms you never knew you had until your friend moved in with you.

-- Steve Tesich

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision.

The people in power will not disappear voluntarily, giving flowers to the cops just isn't going to work. This thinking is fostered by the establishment; they like nothing better than love and nonviolence. The only way I like to see cops given flowers is in a flower pot from a high window.

Trust:

You hold your breath as I leave the room

I see the worry lines in your brow

I’ve caught you watching me as I sleep

Do you think I’ll disappear somehow?

How can I make you understand

I’m me.. not him. .my dear.

I am another type of man.

you can depend on me, don’t fear.

My love for you is strong,

dependable and true

what will it take to demonstrate

that I’ll always be here for you.

There may be times I must go,

must sometimes leave your side

but I will never leave your heart,

in there my trust will abide.

My love, I give to you my heart

and fiercely will I ever shout

I love you

Humility:

Humility is the state of being humble. I will strive to be a humble person, unpretentious and modest. I do not think of myself as better or more important than you. My humility is not to be confused with humiliationthrough my humility you will never feel humiliated, you will never feel ashamed or less than me. It is with this virtue that our marriage will strive forth.

Forgetting:

I must remember to forget.

Forget that a dirty dish is in the sink.

Forget that my favorite shirt is not clean.

Forget that the bed is not made.

Forget that I had a bad day.

Forget that I am thinking of only me.

I must remember to forget.

So that I leave space for the things I never want to forget.

I never want to forget the way you smile.

I never want to forget your gentle way.

I never want to forget your loving embrace.

I never want to forget the love I see in your eyes for me.

I never want to forget your devotion to my weird ways.

Most of all I never want to forget you.

So when we grow old and I begin to forget.

Forget what we ate last night.

Forget where I put my keys

Forget what our phone number is.

Forget how to drive to the Wal-Mart.

I know that I can not forget you.

Remembering:

A simple word with great meaning.
Always remembering what brought us together.
Remembering what keeps us together.
Remebering the joy we bring to each other.
And remembering our love.
I think of what was.
Of what will be through our memories.
I smile, knowing you will always remember me.

Seeing:

I am not a man who overlooks you.
I see you everyday.
I see you for who you are and who you will be.
I see a life that is and that will be.
Mostly, I see you with me.
To see you is not just to merely look at you.
It is looking into you.
Seeing what your soul is.
I see all the beauty that is you.
Whether it is today or tomorrow.
I know, because I can see you.
